These photos are all from around Mt Hutt, one of the commercial ski resorts in New Zealand’s South Island. When we were there, cloud covered the plains and Methven, the closest town, copped overcast and dreary weather for entire days while Mt Hutt bathed in beautiful sunshine above the clouds. The first glimpses of the mountains shining in blue sky as we drove up through the murk were special indeed. At these NZ resorts the views are always spectacular – mountains upon mountains stretch to the icy horizon. At Mt Hutt the constant layer of fluffy cloud sitting lazily below added to the whole experience.
