Woomera is a tiny town in outback South Australia. Unlike so many other small and remote towns in Australia, Woomera’s name is well known here. From 1999 to 2003 it was the location of a highly protested immigration detention centre created by our previous government, which is thankfully now closed. It is also near the Woomera Prohibited Area, a weapons and rocket testing range that is roughly the size of England. For this reason there are a bunch of old rockets and planes sitting in the middle of the town. I’m amused at this one’s bent tip.
