Picnic in Lavaux

I'm very lucky to have had family visiting this weekend: my parents, still on their European adventure and returned to Lausanne, and also my cousin, her husband and their amazing baby named Fox. Saturday was a wonderful day - the weather was summery and we explored the markets in Lausanne and slowly gathered all the required ingredients to keep us well fed for the day. We bought cheese from the smelly cheese trucks at Riponne, beer from Docteur Gab's, tomatoes and olives, bread, fresh pasta, strawberries. Then we all piled onto a train and went to the Lavaux wine region, a perfect place to wander and have a picnic lunch. The day was warm, the lake was extra blue against the green vines, and we walked from Chexbres to the lake, through Rivaz, stopping along the way for photos. All the while, Fox charmed everyone he met, which is a particular skill of his. In Rivaz we tried the local wines. Back in Lausanne we cooked up the fresh pasta and opened the beers as the evening rolled in. A fantastic, low-key weekend.

I've put some DSLR photos from the day on my photo blog.
