Notre propre cep de vigne

My group at work gave me and Tanya an incredible wedding present earlier this year. It's the sponsorship of a vine at André Chavelley et Fils' vineyard in Lavaux! As "proprietors" of the vine, we are treated to a celebration at the vineyard each year. Today marked the occasion of our first celebration, and our opportunity to choose and label our particular vine.

So today, with our friends Mark and Beth who are visiting from Canberra, we beetled out to the vineyard in Savuit, near Lutry. Lutry is precisely five minutes on the train from Lausanne. As we walked up through the vines the skies opened and it poured. Our spirits weren't dampened, for we had wine to try.

We tried many wines and ate a wonderful lunch and then the time came for us to choose our vine. Our vine has a beautiful view of the lake, a sturdy base, many nice purple grapes, and our names tied tightly around it.

We left Savuit as newly minted proprietors of a vine - with a spring in our step and a new sense of responsibility. I'm sure our vine will produce many bottles of fine wine, as it whiles away the seasons above Lac Léman.
