The Royal National Park

The Royal National Park just to the south of Sydney is Australia’s oldest national park. During our after-Christmas staycation we visited it not once but three times, to sample different parts of it. We started with a trip to Garie Beach and walk onto the headland to its north.

On another trip we walked from the sleepy town of Bundeena along the cliff tops to Wedding Cake rock.

On the third trip we went to do a walk in some rainforest, but turned around after a short while because the cicadas there was singing so incredibly loudly. There was no escape from the noise which came in rising waves and drilled into every part of the forest. So instead we went to the beach at Wattamolla.

The cicadas were so loud we turned around.
