Two types of kangaroo
Now that I'm back in Switzerland I'm looking back through many pictures from the last three weeks. After New Zealand, the second of those three weeks was back home in Australia. Of course a week is nowhere near long enough to spend in Australia at any time, but it was a really fun few days. Tanya and I caught up with lots of great people, and I enjoyed being back in my stomping grounds which are so incredibly familiar. The first few days we spent in Canberra. It is looking dry but otherwise just exactly as we left it last year, which is reassuring.
After Canberra we popped over to Adelaide. In the process we discovered that Qantas flies Q400s (propeller planes) from Canberra to Adelaide. Who would have thought? They are noisy, but the bonus is you fly at lower altitude and thus get great views of the changing landscape below. After a happy few days in Adelaide hanging out with my beloved grandparents, we had to leave. So we took off again and had many hours to contemplate the strangeness of heading "home" and leaving "home" at the same time, as we sailed over the massive red interior of Australia on our way westwards.
